Jackson: "Angels Remake Missed the Mark"
12 September 2006 (WENN)
Original Charlie's Angels star Kate Jackson has blasted the film remake of the series which rocketed her to fame, insisting the movie simply seemed like a "competition" between the sexy stars. Jackson, who starred alongside Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith in the successful 1970s detective show, was disappointed in the 2000 film Charlie's Angels - because she could tell the stars Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore were not united. The 57-year-old says, "I think they missed the mark. In the TV show, Farrah, Jaclyn and I were best friends who cared for each other and I think that came through in the acting. In the movies, they were too busy competing with each other, trying to see who could jump the highest or wear the tightest clothes."

Jolie Takes on First Film Role Since Birth
11 July 2006 (WENN)
Angelina Jolie is re-teaming with Jack Black for her first film role since giving birth to daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt in May. Black will play Po The Panda, who slings noodles in a restaurant and loves kung fu, but doesn't have the body required for practicing the martial art. Jolie will provide the voice of a martial-arts master named Tigress, who must get the panda into fighting form after it is revealed he is the "Chosen One" to save the animals. The movie is scheduled for release in May 2008.

Liu Laughs Off Clooney Rumors
21 February 2006 (WENN)
Actress Lucy Liu has laughed off rumors she enjoyed a fling with Hollywood heart-throb George Clooney in Miami, insisting she has never even been to the Florida hotspot. The Charlie's Angels actress, who stars alongside Josh Hartnett in upcoming comedy thriller Lucky Number Slevin, maintains her relationship with Clooney is purely platonic. And she warns that if the pair ever did date, there is no chance they'd show off their love in public. She says, "I've heard Miami's great, but I've never been there. And I've never been to a nightclub called Bed. And if I was out with George, I'd never be making out with him in public. I'd make out with somebody else in public, but not George."

Moore and Kutcher Wed
26 September 2005 (WENN)

After initial reports of the marriage by American magazines Us Weekly and People, TV shows Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight confirmed the nuptials had taken place. Us Weekly reported 100 friends and family attended the "brief, but traditional" service, including Moore's ex-husband Bruce Willis and her Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle co-star Lucy Liu, as well as Kutcher's That '70S Show co-star Wilmer Valderrama. While Kutcher, 27, weds for the first time, the union is the third marriage for the 42-year-old Ghost beauty, whose previous husbands include rocker Freddie Moore from 1980 to 1984 and Willis from 1987 to 2000. Moore and Kutcher first met in early 2003 at a casual dinner in New York City, while the actor was in a relationship with his Just Married co-star Brittany Murphy. Kutcher begin dating Moore in May 2003 after splitting from the 8 Mile actress a month earlier. 31 July 2005 (WENN)
Asian-American actress Lucy Liu is being lined up to star in a Hollywood revival of the 1930s Charlie Chan films. The Kill Bill star has agreed to play the famous mustachioed detective's grand-daughter in a reprise of the classic murder mysteries. A movie insider says, "With Lucy on board, the feeling is this could be a real hit. There's even talk of a new actor taking on the role of the original Charlie Chan for a cameo appearance." The original Chan character was played by Swedish actor Warner Oland - a casting which was criticized because Orland was not of Chinese descent.

Insulted Gellar Dumps Agent
16 March 2005 (WENN)
Hollywood beauty Sarah Michelle Gellar has ditched the prestigious William Morris Agency after its president dismissed the star as "nothing at all". David Wirtschafter offended the Buffy The Vampire Slayer actress with his comments in US publication the New Yorker surrounding her performance in horror movie The Grudge. Yesterday, Gellar's public relations spokesperson confirmed that she "has left the William Morris Agency effective immediately because of the New Yorker article", reports website Pagesix.Com. However, the sexy star will remain with management company The Firm. Gellar isn't the only star who has been upset by the outspoken talent boss - Charlie's Angels star Lucy Liu has also had problems with William Morris, but not "because of the article" according to a company spokesperson.

Liu Helps with Tsunami Aid
12 January 2005 (WENN)
Movie beauty Lucy Liu has donated $200,000 to the victims of last month's Indian Ocean tsunami. The Charlie's Angels star, 36, was "inspired" by Egyptian millionaire Mohamed Al Fayed's generous donation to the appeal, when she opened the January sale at his Harrods department store in London last week. Liu says, "Mohamed has given more than £150,000 and as a UNICEF ambassador, it was the least I could do." Al Fayed is the father of Dodi Fayed - the late boyfriend of Diana, Princess Of Wales, who killed alongside the tragic royal in the August 1997 car crash.

CORRECTION: The $200,000 donation mentioned in the story above was given by Mohamed Al Fayed, not Lucy Liu. Ms. Liu helped open the Harrod's one day sale launch, inspired by Mr. Fayed's agreement to give 2% of the proceeds to the tsunanmi relief fund, and her quote above was in regard to her participation in the store opening. The actress will also be taking part in this weekend's United Way telethon for tsunami relief.

2 September 2004 (WENN)

The "Jenny From The Block" beauty - who recently married third husband Marc Anthony - was furious to discover someone in her close circle was secretly relaying information to journalists, so set a trap. And, according to New York gossip site Page Six.com, Scott Barnes was discovered to be the culprit after Lopez told him false information and then her representatives started getting calls from press about it. A source says, "His former client Lucy Liu had a similar problem with Scott." However, a spokesperson for J.Lo played down the rift saying, "It's not as dramatic as it seems. She's exploring other options."

Diaz to Star in 'Starsky' Sequel
23 June 2004 (WENN)
Movie beauty Cameron Diaz is set to appear in the sequel to Starsky & Hutch, after comic actor Ben Stiller begged her to star in the film with him. Stiller, 38, and comic sidekick Owen Wilson had wanted all three Charlie's Angels - Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore - to make a combined cameo appearance in the follow-up. But, due to other commitments, they have been forced to settle for Diaz alone.

MTV To Edit Sandler Too
10 June 2004 (WENN)
Comic star Adam Sandler is the latest celebrity whose MTV Movie Awards appearance is being threatened with the axe, after he thanked Hawaiians for providing him with drugs on the set of 50 First Dates. It's already emerged rapper Eminem's bare bottom flash at Hollywood beauties including Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Carmen Electra, Queen Latifah and Halle Berry at the star-studded bash at Culver City, California on Saturday has been cut from the televised broadcast of the event tomorrow. And now MTV bosses are poised to drop Sandler's drug comment, which he made after his 50 First Dates co-star Drew Barrymore suggested they praise Hawaii during their acceptance speech for the Best Onscreen Team award. Instead, Sandler sparked laughter when he hailed the locals for supplying him with "weed" during the shoot.

Eminem's Bottom Out of MTV Movie Awards
9 June 2004 (WENN)

After the uproar following Janet Jackson's infamous Super Bowl breast exposure earlier this year, MTV have decided to remove Eminem's derriere from the broadcast, which hits TV screens on Thursday.

'Kill Bill: Vol. 1' Kills Rivals at MTV Movie Awards
7 June 2004 (StudioBriefing)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was voted best film at Saturday's MTV Movie Awards, but Kill Bill: Vol. 1 was the real killer, winning for Best Female Performance (Uma Thurman), Best Villain (Lucy Liu) and Best Fight (Thurman with Chiaki Kuriyama). Johnny Depp won for Best Male Performance (in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl). Jack Black took home the award for Best Comedic Performance for his role in School of Rock. This being MTV, Adam Sandler touched off little initial controversy (the awards show will not air until June 10) when, in accepting the Best Team award with Drew Barrymore for 50 First Dates, he thanked the people of Hawaii, where the movie was made, for supplying him with marijuana ("weed," as he put it).

7 June 2004 (WENN)
Kill Bill: Vol 1 and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King took home most of the major honors at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles last night. Uma Thurman won Best Female Performance and Lucy Liu was named Best Villain for their roles in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Vol 1. The revenge epic was also awarded the Best Fight prize, for the clash between Thurman's character and schoolgirl Chiaki Kuriyama. A grateful Thurman praised Tarantino as she collected the award: "Quentin spent many years writing this for me and wants to be honored as if he were dead tonight. We don't have time, so I'll have to honor you as if you were living. Thank you, Quentin." The Return Of The King, the third film in director Peter Jackson's blockbusting Lord Of The Rings trilogy, won Best Movie and Best Action Sequence. Elsewhere, Johnny Depp's part in The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was voted Best Male Performance, and Jack Black won the Comedic Performance award for School of Rock. Liu Eyes a Quiet Wedding
20 April 2004 (WENN)
Kill Bill: Vol 1 beauty Lucy Liu is finally ready to marry after finding her soulmate in boyfriend Zach Helm. The stunning actress, 35, credits the hunky writer - whom she has been dating for nearly a year - with teaching her the meaning of love. And now the couple are excitedly talking weddings, but are insistent they will not be staging a showy ceremony packed with celebrity guests. Lucy enthuses, "Neither of us are into big showy, events and we talked about a quiet marriage, somewhere with just a few close friends and family and no big deal. I know that when you're involved with Hollywood it's almost expected that you will put on a big extravaganza or do something outrageous but I'm not like that. I want things to be quiet. Marriage is a special, private moment, a commitment and it should be a very emotional time not another movie set."

Original 'Kill Bill' Is a Killer in Home Video Sales
15 April 2004 (StudioBriefing)
More good news for Disney: Only days before Friday's debut of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 2, the home video version of Kill Bill Vol. 1, starring Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu, sold 2 million copies in its first 24 hours in the store, according to Disney's Buena Vista Home Entertainment. In a statement, Miramax COO Rick Sands said, "It is an extraordinary achievement and reaffirms that Quentin's films are true movie events."

Barrymore: Moore "Overshadowed" Latest 'Charlie's Angels'
17 October 2003 (WENN)
Drew Barrymore has blamed her Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle co-star Demi Moore for "overshadowing" the movie. The action sequel failed to match the success of the 2000 original, despite being Moore's much-vaunted return to the big screen - and Barrymore believes the publicity the Striptease actress attracted adversely affected the film. She says, "You could say there is a bit of irony in all that. In the film, Demi's character Madison Lee wanted to overshadow the new Angels and that's what happened in reality." However, Barrymore - who also produces the films - is still keen to make a third Angels movie. She explains, "I refuse to feel bad and wouldn't even if the film had only made back its costs. I've had a wonderful experience these past six years working on the Angel movies with Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, who are two of my best friends. If a dynamite third script surfaces, I'm pretty certain we'd all come back for more."

Bill Clears Up 'Charlie's Angels' Feud with Lucy
11 September 2003 (WENN)
Movie funnyman Bill Murray has cleared up his reported feud with Charlie's Angels co-star Lucy Liu, insisting it was a 20-minute row that blew up out of a misunderstanding. Gossips reported that Murray pulled out of the sequel because he didn't want to work with Liu again, but he swears nothing could be further from the truth. He explains, "We began rehearsing this scene and I said, 'Lucy, how can you want to say these lines? These are so crazy.' She got furious with me because she thought it was a personal assault, but the reality is she hated these lines as much as I did. But for 15 or 20 minutes there, we went to our separate corners and threw hand-grenades and sky rockets at each other. We made peace and I got to know her better from that day, and I feel very warmly for her now."

Lucy's Quiet Wedding Plans
4 September 2003 (WENN)
Charlie's Angels star Lucy Liu won't be following Hollywood trends and planning a lavish wedding when she ties the knot with boyfriend Zach Helm - because she doesn't like the idea of a big ceremony. The actress admits Helm is very special to her and she can foresee them getting married, but it will be a very quiet ceremony. She explains, "I would just elope. I want to live life, so therefore I'm not going to take all that time and energy and put it into a wedding. That's not what I value - photographs of me running down the aisle with rice falling. It's more about the feeling inside. I think that's always separated me from a lot of my girlfriends."

'Kill Bill' To Enter Oscar Race - Twice
2 September 2003 (WENN)
Maverick director Quentin Tarantino's upcoming two-part movie Kill Bill will be eligible for awards in two separate Oscar years - effectively meaning the film could win two best picture gongs. The marital arts revenge saga starring Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu was originally planned as a single movie, but because of its length, Tarantino and Miramax Films decided to split it in two, and open the first part in America this October. Originally studio insiders believed the second installment would follow soon after, qualifying it for the same Academy Awards ceremony next March. However, Miramax have confirmed the second volume will be released on 20 February, meaning it can only be considered for nomination at the Oscars in 2005. The decision to split the film has angered American critics, who argue the decision is just a money-making ploy to earn twice as much in ticket sales. Miramax has hit back, insisting the movie was too long to remain a single entity.

Lucy Liu Gets Her Man
11 July 2003 (WENN)
Sexy Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle actress Lucy Liu has been spotted on a date with playwright Zach Helm - just days after bemoaning her lack of male attention. The good-looking two were spotted out at a Norah Jones concert at New York's Beacon Theater on Wednesday, and seemed to be enjoying each other's company. A source tells British tabloid The Sun, "They looked like the perfect couple. She has been without a man for so long, and now she has hit the jackpot at last."

'Charlie's Angels' Stars Fed Up with Demi
10 July 2003 (WENN)
Foxy Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle actresses Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu have had enough of co-star Demi Moore's tireless self-promotion. The sexy threesome reportedly became annoyed by beauty Demi's antics at the Los Angeles premiere of the hit flick, and reckon her behavior has had a negative effect at the box office. The three hotties were so put out they snubbed Demi at the movie's premieres in New York and Europe. An insider tells Pagesix.Com, "Drew, Cameron and Lucy were really angry after the LA premiere of the movie when Demi stole the show from them by arriving at the last minute with Ashton Kutcher, Bruce Willis and her kids. She refused to do interviews, which got her even more press. Drew even thought the box-office returns were hurt because Demi did so much press that she over-saturated the market." And when Cameron was asked about Demi by one intrepid TV reporter, she said, "I don't want to talk about her. The movie isn't all about her."

Charlie's Angels: We Don't Care About Box Office
9 July 2003 (WENN)
Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu insist they don't care how much Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle grosses at the box office. Although the sequel to Charlie's Angels made $38 million and went to number one in its debut weekend last month, it failed to match the $40 million of its predecessor in November 2000. But the glamorous stars seem unperturbed by this slowdown. Diaz says, "It doesn't mean anything to us. I'm not interested in breaking records." Liu adds, "If the film were to earn just one dollar it wouldn't matter to us. I didn't make this film for the money." The original Charlie's Angels made $125 million at the American box office.

Tarantino's Bloody Demands
7 July 2003 (WENN)
Hollywood hero Quentin Tarantino is back - and he's as bloody as ever. The True Romance scribe has finally completed his long-awaited fourth feature film as a director, Kill Bill, which stars Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu, and in the tradition of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, it will be a bloody affair - except this time Quentin's demanding extra-special fluids. He says, "I'm really particular about the blood, so we're using a mixture depending on the scenes. I say, 'I don't want horror movie blood, alright? I want Samurai blood.' You can't pour this raspberry pancake syrup on a sword and have it look good. You have to have this special kind of blood that you only see in samurai movies."

Moore: Reviews Praise Looks, Not Acting
2 July 2003 (WENN)
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle star Demi Moore has won favorable reviews for her stunning looks - but her acting skills have been slated. The movie, which hit cinema screens in America last weekend, features the 40-year-old Striptease star in a small role as the evil Angel Madison, but very few critiques actually touch on Moore's performance - focusing instead on her looks. The Boston Globe says, "Her wet hair shines like a seal's pelt, her teeth are whiter than Ron Howard, and you can still scrub clean an entire bathroom with that voice, but she's as humorless as ever." A reviewer on magazine Us Weekly writes, "Moore, looking incredible in the teeniest of bikinis, enjoys the splashiest of moments," white Usa Today notes, "She out-babes the leads." Meanwhile the New York Times offers, "The movie's conception of adulthood is to show that 40-ish Dark Angel, Madison, as being in such spectacular shape that she upstages the don't-dare-scratch-me red Ferrari she drives." But there does seem to be one common opinion on Moore's much hyped comeback alongside Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz - her performance is unlikely to win her an Oscar.

Charlie's Angels Fly Into London
2 July 2003 (WENN)
Charlie's Angels beauties Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu delighted their British fans last night - when they made an impromptu walkabout in London's Leicester Square. The sexy trio spent only one hour at the event - which screened the sequel Full Throttle to a host of celebrities - but those who had queued to see them were not disappointed. After completing a half-an-hour mingle amongst the 4,000 admirers, Barrymore admitted, "This is mind blowing". However, the evening was marred for Diaz when one journalist quizzed her about reports of her romance with Justin Timberlake. Furious Diaz shot the reporter a dirty look before turning on her heels and moving on. Other celebrities in attendance were Beyonce Knowles and Kirsten Dunst.

Demi Moore Accused of Upstaging Angels
24 June 2003 (WENN)
Hollywood babe Demi Moore has been accused of upstaging her Charlie's Angels co-stars at the Los Angeles premiere of the hit sequel. The Striptease star makes her Hollywood comeback in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle alongside regulars Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz, but critics of Moore claim she used last Wednesday's red-carpet event to steal the limelight from the three movie beauties. Moore waited for Barrymore, Liu and Diaz to pose for paparazzo outside the Mann's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard - before making a spectacular appearance of her own, with new beau Ashton Kutcher, her ex-husband Bruce Willis and their three daughters. A guest at the event says, "Demi totally upstaged the stars of the movie. It was the first time that Demi and Ashton officially appeared together. The photographers made a stampede to get to her." A movie insider tells American gossip site The Scoop, "My bet is that she was circling the block. It's an old Public Relations trick to time your entrance." But a spokesperson for Moore insists, "She arrived late because it was difficult to get all three girls dressed and get ready and then go pick up Bruce."

Demi Out On Town with Ex Husband and New Lover
20 June 2003 (WENN)
Middle-aged mother Demi Moore stunned crowds at the premiere for her new film Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle by arriving with her three daughters, ex-husband Bruce Willis - and new toy boy lover Ashton Kutcher. The 40-year-old Ghost actress outshone co-stars Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore by arriving with the unusual entourage. Moore divorced Willis - who has a small cameo in the film - in October 2000, after 13 years of marriage that saw them produce three children, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. Youthful Demi, who plays fallen Angel Madison Lee in the sequel, was first seen in public with 25-year-old Just Married star Ashton earlier this month. He is the latest in a long line of younger lovers that includes A-lister Colin Farrell, 26. Pulp Fiction star Willis has insisted he approves of Demi's latest conquest, but is said to have told the playboy actor, "Kiddo, if you don't behave you'll have me chasing you."

'Charlie's Angels' in Massive Marketing Drive
12 June 2003 (WENN)
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle will be at the center of a massive marketing campaign - compliments of Sony Ericsson, Ferrari's Maserati and Cingular Wireless. In an unusual move, the companies are gearing up for an estimated $15 million joint promotional drive, with the brands taking turns to showcase their mobile phones, sports cars and wireless services used in the film, which stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. The move marks the first time Maserati has aided in the promotion of a Hollywood movie - shelling out a whopping $9 million in support. The Italian company's new Maserati Spyder sports coupe and two Ferraris appear in the summer flick as part of an effort to boost its profile in America. The movie will also be backed by campaigns from Best Buy, Billabong and Ray Ban.

Liu Warns: 'Kill Bill' Will Make You Ill
5 June 2003 (WENN)
Stunner Lucy Liu is warning sensitive fans to avoid her new movie Kill Bill - because the dramatic violence will make them physically ill. The Charlie's Angels babe stars alongside Uma Thurman in cult director Quentin Tarantino's long-awaited fourth film, and predicts audiences will either flee from the cinema or vomit in their seats when they watch the extreme action - even if she thinks the violence is artistic. She says, "It's so violent. People will leave the movie theatre or get sick in the movie theatre. But there's so much violence that it becomes not numbing, but almost comedic. There's a scene where there's so much violence that the color of the film goes into black and white, so that the blood looks like oil. It's cinematic, it's art. You can take it to a different level, and show what violence is, in such a heightened manner that you don't think of it as violence anymore, you think of it as a language. If you go to Kill Bill, you know there's going to be violence - that's your option."

Sandra Bullock's Agent Anger
28 May 2003 (WENN)
Girl-next-door movie star Sandra Bullock is reportedly furious with her agent - because he has too many other A-list female stars on his list. The Two Weeks Notice actress was spotted last week having a public spat with her CAA (Creative Artists Agency) representative Kevin Huvane. And friends say Bullock is raging because CAA has recently taken on other big screen beauties like Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. One pal tells gossip website Pagesix, "There are all these high-profile women at CAA now and Sandra thinks, rightly so, that it is a conflict of interest. It is kind of like who are they paying attention to? She doesn't seem to think it is her."

Charlie's Angels Get Naked with Director
22 May 2003 (WENN)
Charlie's Angels stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu are so comfortable with the director of their hit movie, they once stripped off with him - in the back of a van. Filmmaker McG, real name Joseph McGinty Nichol, admits he and his leading ladies decided to disrobe together when they attended the Super Bowl Of Motocross. He says, "They're all very free with their physicality. They've all seen me naked, I've seen them naked. That's how we get down. We got a big limo van, put on old Motley Crue records, and Drew and I stripped down. It's sort of fabulous the way we all trust on another, most particularly Drew. Drew is very into the body, very natural. It's a splendid thing."

"They all love the incremental revenue, they want to offer more to their consumers and they all have product placement partners and they want to create more value for those partners," he said.

'Charlie's Angels' Set To Earn Drew a Fortune
5 May 2003 (WENN)
The new Charlie's Angels film is set to earn Drew Barrymore $40 million - because the shrewd beauty bought the rights to the '80s TV series before the first film was made. Drew, 28, who also stars in the movie versions alongside gorgeous Cameron Diaz and luscious Lucy Liu, bought the screen rights through her production company Flower Films. She has already netted $40 million from the first film, which made $400 million. If Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle makes the same amount of money, Drew will earn a further $40 million - increasing her take to $80 million. The blockbuster sequel hits cinemas this July.

Tarantino's Double Dose of 'Kill Bill'?
25 February 2003 (WENN)
Quentin Tarantino's new movie Kill Bill is so long, the filmmaker now plans to turn it into two separate films. The film, starring Uma Thurman, Daryl Hannah, Vivica A. Fox and Lucy Liu, was originally scheduled to hit American cinemas screens in October, and now it is expected that the second part will be released just weeks later. David Carradine, who stars in the drama says, "Shooting has been going on so long - with Quentin continuing to write scenes, that plans are afoot to turn Kill Bill into two 90-minute features that would be released within five weeks of each other. I probably shouldn't be saying this, but what the hell - they can't fire me." He adds, "It's a brilliant marketing plan. The first film would end with a cliffhanger, so that everyone would want to see the second half." Carradine, who landed his role in the flick after Warren Beatty dropped out, is expecting to go before cameras again to shoot extra scenes for the movies.

Drew Barrymore's Constant Costume Changes
22 January 2003 (WENN)
Actress Drew Barrymore is being kept busier than ever while filming the second installment to hit movie Charlie's Angels - because she has so many costume changes. The 27-year-old actress, who has re-teamed with Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu for Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, admits that her constant change of appearance in the movie has proved quite a memorable experience. She says, "There are so many different costumes. One day we're in motocross gear, the next day we're coming out of a Greek statue. Then we're in evening gowns, and next we're dressed like roller derby girls." But the constant costume change seems to have influenced Barrymore somewhat. In the new movie Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind she plays the girlfriend of The Gong Show host Chuck Barris. And if she had the chance to appear on the defunct '70s talent show in real life, she's sure about the bizarre outfit she'd most like to don. She explains, "I'd come out as a flower and water myself. The feisty trio have resorted to banning the Striptease star from using their luxury facilities, which include a private dining area with a special chef, their own exercise room, massage tables and a comfortable lounge. Lucy Liu: Action Woman
7 October 2002 (WENN)
Charlie's Angels star Lucy Liu loves being able to flex her muscles in action films because it gives her the chance to show off martial arts skills she learned as a kid. The actress was desperate to jump into fight scenes when she was starting out in Hollywood but she was never allowed to get involved until Mel Gibson championed her for a fight scene in Payback. And now there's no stopping the former Ally McBeal babe. She says, "I started doing stick fighting as a hobby when I was a kid. I enjoyed it, but like an aerobics class or a yoga class I didn't go every day. Then I was unemployed at the beginning of my career, so I could go four or five times a week. I became quite good. I did it really to stay in shape, but as I started progressing in my career I did this episode of Hercules and I took my sticks with me and showed them some of the tricks I could do. I got the job. Then I came up with a few moves with Mel in Payback. It looked good. I like being accepted by the audience as the action woman."

Liu says, "I think Bill Murray is amazingly talented and funny and he added to all our characters and would bring amazingly funny lines to it and would give us some direction for where he thought a scene should go. It was such a shame when I heard he wasn't coming back but I hope to work with him again in the future."

However, one look at the new script convinced her to reprise her role as leggy blonde Natalie. She explains, "I read the script. I saw it was totally fun and it reminded me of how much fun we had and how great it was. Angels Are Just Too Pricey
28 November 2000 (WENN)

But Hollywood insiders claim Columbia execs are nervous about bringing the three stars in for the sequel - and are considering three new stars who would surely cost a lot less. The $92 million budget for the first film included the $9 million Barrymore received to star and produce, and Diaz' $12 million salary. Entertainment Weekly predicted Diaz's salary could go to $20 million for a sequel. Liu received only $1 million, but would probably ask for more. The alternate plan allegedly involves different actresses for each successive sequel, a move that would relegate Barrymore, Diaz and Liu to the "classic Angels" category now occupied by Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson.

McG, who had never directed a film before, beleives he got the job because of the amazing presentation he gave to Drew and executives at Sony. The images were then molded onto Girl Force action figures, and re-modelled live on set, to make sure they were exact mini-replicas of the beauties themselves. Spokeswoman Hayley Friedman says, "They are amazing likenesses, and even the bodies look real. When you twist their hips, you can see their rib cages. They're not made of hard plastic like many action figures are. "Even the girls were amazed when they saw how lifelike they were. It's very impressive."

Movie Reviews: Shanghai Noon
26 May 2000 (StudioBriefing)
Although any film released over the Memorial Day weekend is likely to be shunted off to the sidelines as Mission: Impossible 2 (2000) and Dinosaur face off, Jackie Chan's Shanghai Noon (2000) could very well pick up many of the latecomers and people taking in two movies. Some critics even indicate their preference for the Chan film. For example, Andy Seiler in USA Today comments: "Don't be surprised if Mission: Impossible 2 (2000) ends up looking over its shoulder at this little Touchstone upstart kicking up a storm behind it." And Carrie Rickey in the Philadelphia Inquirer observes: "The film's as irresistible as Chan is irrepressible. In a movie season in which, it seems, all the blockbusters boast wheels, it's a treat to see a movie that has legs." A..O. Scott in the New York Times gives the script writers (Alfred Gough and Miles Millar), the stars (Chan and Owen Wilson, Lucy Liu) and director (Tom Dey) strong kudos, but reserves a standing ovation for the veteran Hong Kong actor. "Mr. Chan's fight scenes are like nothing else in the movies, and they're staged without trickery or flashy special effects. The thrill is like that of watching a great athlete or musician; it's a perfect marriage of discipline and grace." Likewise, Kevin Thomas in the Los Angeles Times enthuses: "One dazzling feat of derring-do follows another, defying descriptions in the speed and bravura of Chan's martial artistry." Several reviewers also remind moviegoers that, as with all Jackie Chan movies, the closing credits are worth sticking around for, since they include Chan's trademark outtakes, showing him enduring stunts that went wrong.

But the diminutive actress vows the fights have nothing to do with her. Liu says, "It's too bad people keep saying that I am the cause of all these arguments. If people want to believe it that's up to them. It's a free country but I am telling you I never started any fights."

Charlie's Angels Troubles Not Lucy Liu's Fault
3 May 2000 (WENN)
CHARLIE'S ANGELS producer Leonard Goldberg insists problems on the set of the high profile movie are not Lucy Liu's fault. Reports have been circulating Hollywood that the ALLY McBEAL stunner has been causing problems on the set of the movie, fighting with co- star Bill Murray and being jealous over Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore's paychecks. But although Goldberg admits there have been ups and downs during filming, he refuses to blame Liu for them. He says, "It's untrue, and unnecessary. To cast Lucy as the villain in completely unfair. We're not going through any more than any high profile production. "I guess you'd have to say there have been the normal occurrences between people. But is Lucy causing the trouble? God no. No more than anyone else."

Charlie's Angels Hit By Curse
18 April 2000 (WENN)
Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu fear they may be suffering from a curse which saw the original CHARLIE'S ANGELS star's lives left in tatters. The original stars of the hit TV show, Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Farrah Fawcett have all suffered from major tragedies since appearing in the 1970's show. Fawcett has been divorced twice since she left the under cover show while Jackson, 51, has battled breast cancer and gone under the knife for open heart surgery and Smith has failed to find love and motherhood after a twenty year search. And, according to the tabloid THE NATIONAL EXAMINER, Diaz, Liu and Barrymore all narrowly escaped with their lives when a car skidded out of control on the set of the movie recently. And insiders fear Drew's boyfriend TOM GREEN's recent cancer scare is also connected to the curse. Diaz, Barrymore and Lui are reportedly aware of and concerned about the Charlie's Angels curse.
